Static vs Dynamic QR Codes
Static and dynamic QR codes look similar, but they behave differently. The best choice depends on whether you need simplicity, permanence, tracking or future editing.
Static QR codes
Static QR codes store the final data directly in the QR pattern. They are simple, fast and do not require an external redirect service. They are ideal for permanent information that is unlikely to change.
Dynamic QR codes
Dynamic QR codes usually store a redirect link controlled through a dashboard. The final destination can be changed later, and scan analytics may be available.
Which should you choose?
Use static codes for simple, permanent use cases such as plain text, WiFi access, basic contact details and long-term URLs you control. Use dynamic codes when you need tracking, campaign measurement or the ability to update the destination after printing.
Trade-offs
Dynamic codes add flexibility but also introduce provider dependency. Static codes are less flexible but can be more robust because they do not rely on a third-party redirect system.
